Dear Sir/Madam!

We inform that we are collecting money for visually impaired people. Currently we are collecting funds for the blind's guide dogs' trainings. It takes about 1,5 year to train one dog and an approximate cost is 15.000 PLN.

Recruitment process of selecting candidates for volunteers of "Vis Maior" Foundation who will be cooperating with the Foundation within the frames of the project "A volunteer is a professional" has already started.
All interested persons, who has already completed a 16 year of life, are asked to familiarize themselves with the information provided below.

On 9 of July we had a bonfire to welcome the summer.

Another meeting this year took place at our Foundation´s premises on 5 February. Apart from coworkers, volunteers and people under our care we also invited a special guest.

In mid January 2009 as part of "Study Tours to Poland - visits for professional" Program, The POLITES Association from Szczecin and The Education for Democracy Foundation (Warsaw) hosted a group of social workers from Moldova. The participants visited many organizations and institutions in Warsaw, Szczecin and in the vicinity. One of the meetings took place at "Vis Maior" Foundation.

On 19 December we gathered at the Christmas Eve table again.

This time the instructors explained how to make everyday functioning of blind and partially sighted people easier. The examples of correct and incorrect signs in various points e.g. in public places such as entrances, stairs etc. were shown in a multimedia presentation. The role of creating contrasts, color matching, clear labeling of the doors, handles, curbs etc. was stressed.

The next point was learning everyday activities without using sight. Volunteers tried to serve themselves at a table.

In May and June 2008 "Vis Maior" took part in events accompanied by presentations of various non-governmental organisations.
