On the 9th of May we were hosting students from Belarus, Ukraine and Russia, who arrived at the invitation of Polish-Czech-Slovakian Solidarity Foundation.
We have welcomed them in our foundation. They participated in presentation prepared by Kasia Gajewska. Kasia was talking about Foundation "Vis Maior", our projects and people associated with the foundation, as well as about foundation's involvement in dogs' propaganda, that is telling about the guide dog and fight for the rights of people who benefit from its assistance. After that visitors have watched the movie from project "To See Sea", that was showing cruise of the ship, where half of the crew were blind. Students were also interested in aids for blinds, computer instrumentation, Braille maps. They have also seen board presenting image distortion caused by various types of damage to eyesight. We have been asked loads of questions. We like to meet such people, curious of world. At the end they have visited sailing tavern "Pirate Nest", where they participated in concert and had great fun. Conversations became smooth and integration deeper.
Project "Study Tours to Poland", implemented by Polish-Czech-Slovakian Solidarity Foundation was financed under the Program organized by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation in Region Transition - RITA, and by the Foundation Education for Democracy.
Students came to Warsaw in May and June of this year (2008). The purpose of their visit was to acquaint with the economic, political and cultural situation of Poland. Under the program, participants met representatives of the Polish government, student organizations and universities. Groups were accompanied by a translator - tutor, and known to us from the School of Leaders Martyna Kwiatkowska.
Polish-Czech-Slovakian Solidarity Foundation from sixteen years runs programs directed to representatives of non-governmental organizations and local newspapers in countries from behind the eastern border of Poland. Over those years we have hosted in our country more than 1000 people from over 10 countries. The most important programs are editorial computer courses for the independent press and non-governmental organizations "Free Word Technique" and "Support of independent publications in Central Asia" as well as professional journalism internships "Independent media.".
