A- for assertiveness
B- for business plan
C- for interesting rehabilitation workshops with ‘Vis Maior’ Foundation
Low mood frequent in autumn definitely spared final beneficiaries of ‘Vis Maior’ Foundation in 2009. What contributed to it were rehabilitation workshops which took place from 27.09.09 to 11.10.09 in Wągrowiec near Poznań.
The workshops were carried out within: ‘I can do a lot without sight 2009 + rehabilitation workshops 2009’ project, financed by PFRON (State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons).
Thirty participants from different parts of Poland took part in the trip.
They were blind people as well as short-sighted ones who actively pursued the following areas:
- psychology ( topics connected with: assertiveness, non-verbal communication, strategies for coping with stress)
- vocational counselling (methods of active job searching, preparing for a job interview, learning how to prepare application documents)
- creating projects and business plans
All of the above mentioned parts made a logical whole, enabling participants to gain competent knowledge.
The instructors were very experienced, professional and commited.
‘Vis Maior’’s employees hope that the final beneficiaries use the knowledge in a good way in their private and professional lives.
The workshops took place in a Rehabilitation-Holiday Centre ‘Wielspin’ in Wągrowiec.
The participants could use the swimming pool and different kinds of rehabilitation treatments.
A relaxing back massage in a special armchair and a positive stimulation of the body with therapeutic currents were especially popular with the participants.
The evenings in Wągrowiec passed in a nice atmosphere. The focus was on integration.
The Foundation provided many attractions such as: bowling, bonfires and dance evenings.
The days passed quickly and intensively.
Between the classes, the beneficiaries used the beauty of Wągrowiec and went for walks organized by kind volunteers of ‘Vis Maior’.
There were two trips organized by the Foundation during the rehabilitation workshops.
The aim of the first one was to sightsee Poznań and surroundings.
During the second one, the participants got to know tourist attractions of Gniezno and Biskupin.
Those were interesting trips, enabling blind persons to get to know the monuments by touching them.
A Miniature Open Air Museum in Pobiedziska near Poznań turned out to be an interesting place for the visitors.
There are many monuments of Great Poland there (Great Poland = Wielkopolska, a region of west-central Poland), such as miniatures of buildings which one can touch and get to know in this way, for example the roof of Gniezno Cathedral or the layout of period cottages in Archeological Museum in Biskupin.
Rehabilitation workshops in Wągrowiec were a valuable event for ‘Vis Maior’ Foundation.
Great people with their accumulated experiences met in one place and shared good words and support. Many friendships were struck up and friendship of course is a crucial value in human life.
